Sorry, three in a row but, I had short bursts of ideas.

I could bend a piece of 11 gauge sheet metal to bolt to the crown stop/table extension things.

Then clamp the new supports to those.

I love Festool. But that has got to be the wimpiest hunk of crap Ive seen from them. Although it may be ideal for your everyday installer, I dont know that any carpenter would pay a premium for a Black and Decker grade saw stand like that. Atleast put real tires on it! Sorry for the negativity. I expect more from this company. You pay a premium for the engineering, you should receive a superior product. Looks like they jumped on the wagon and had these stands pumped out of China. Total garbage. We can go to ButtPo and buy the same quality for much less.

Apparently in Germany they only use crown moulding on little things? [scratch chin] I am usually pissed off when I can only get crown in 14 footers instead of 16+ footers.

Festool needs to take a mulligan on the crown stops and re-engineer them so that the extensions could attach to EITHER the crown stops or directly to the Kapex. But hey, what do I know? I just do this for a living.

Unless this changes, when the time comes for my Kapex, it will go on my existing Bosch (Tracrac) stand.

Looks like Festool wants it as light as possible.  Light saw, light stand.  I like it.  Will it tip me over the edge?  I've got to have a solution this summer.  If it's not available in the US this year I'll have to got with a Makita and the Rousseau rig or something like that. 

There's got to be a solution for crown.  Surely something can be rigged up?

The extension has a flat surface that appears to be almost as wide as the Kapex base itself. From the pictures it also seems that it's flat on the underside.

Therefore, I think it's likely that a block can be easily clamped onto the extension for use with crown mouldings.

I personally like those wheels... Agreed, some air filled tires would have been nice, BUT: I had a bosch contractor saw with such tires. What a pain! They constantly lost air pressure, therefore the saw was impossible to wheel around and was also unsafe to use as it was wobbling around. One would say why didn't pump them up? Well, those wheels had tubeless tires and you can only refill them with a high airflow air compressor. That wasn't always handy...
Therefore, I'm happy to see those hard plastic wheels.

It looks great, what do you think it is like in terms ruggedness, is it solid, does it flex if it was to have
a heavy piece of timber moved around on it, or is really only meant for light mouldings and cornice etc.

Ok chaps been a long day! so just a short post. Been working with this stand all day . its is not a piece of crap. its a well thought out and engineered bit of kit. It  started out a bit iffy but then i realised operater error had kicked in. (joining the wings to the saw) Moved the kit 3 times during the day its so easy . cant  fault it.Now wonder how i did with out it, made life a lot easier today. It is a one man job, to move and assemble. Jonnny the measurement you wanted is about 1730mm. Its been a long 14hour day, so a shower , dinner and bed is calling. another long day tomorrow. Review or at least an in depth update at the weekend.
