I didn't think I'd use it, because I've hardly ever used a clamp on a scms. Too much trouble, firstly to find the darn thing! and if it didn't come with a clamp, then I'd have to jerry rig up something. It worked, but it was a time killer.

So then I bought a kapex last month :D  I find that I'm using the clamp all the time now. Who knew? LOL I might buy a second for the other side.  It sure works slick, just push it down and flip the lever.  Those Festool guys sure got it figured out.

My thoughts exactly!

Plus 1!

Safety isn't safety if it's difficult to use, and therefore not used.  The Kapex clamp is very well thought out.  Fast and simple to use.  While I won't say that the clamp "makes the Kapex", it is certainly one of it's best (if under-appreciated) features.

Regards,

Dan.

every now and then I have to make multiple copies of something. ie: 15 pieces of something all the same length, so it's sure fast to just clamp a random piece of wood to the table to act as a stop.

Man that blade is sharp! smooooth cuts :)

And I can mostly see the laser! LOL as it's overcast here, and it rains a LOT, means that the darker days make the laser visible to me (red-green issues) I haven't depended on one before, I'm used to just making a couple of false cuts.

The acid test is tomorrow, I'm starting a crown job.  Looking forward to trying out the angle divider, it looks like it will save a bit of time. My normal proceedure is to measure the angle, figure out the reciprocal, then set the saw- cut.

Time is critical! my client get's the keys to his condo at 1pm Thursday, and he want's me to start right away. Then he's moving in Saturday :D no pressure! [scared]

I used the angle finder on my first job with the Kapex. Made it faster and tight miters that didn't need any caulk. Even the home owners wife noticed how much nicer the miters were compared to the rest of her house and he is a Marine and was impressed.  [cool] Its the best addition to the saw and worth every penny and more.

MrMac,

Please don't ask me why, but I think I read somewhere that you should not use two clamps with the Kapex.  So I guess they are saying it is OK to have one mounted on both sides, just don't use them both at the same time.

Frankly, I like the idea but have hesitated to do it because of what I read,  I would be interested to hear from someone who has tried this.

Hands down, it is the best clamp that has come with any of the 5 brands of miter saws I have owned.

I would expect nothing less from Festool though.

I only use the angle finder on outside corners, don't remember the last time I checked a supposed inside 90.

You got it... you can have two clamps just don't try to use them both at the same time. I never did it and don't know the technical terms. The world isn't going to end, your Kapex will be fine but it will likely scare you at least. It is the same reason you don't want to clamp down the offcut side on the MFT or use both a mitre gauge and a fence on your Table Saw. Essentially you don't want to trap the wood.

I often find myself wanting a second clamp on my Kapex. Usually right after I have changed the mitre angle to exactly where I want it to be only to find that I can no longer remove the clamp to move it to the other side.
