I am using my Kapex to cut slots in 4 x 4 lumber to hold a 2 x 4 for a workbench support.  The Depth Limiter (when set at the upper limit) cuts a 1 3/4" slot instead of the desired 1 1/2" so the 2 x 4 is not flush with the 4 x 4.  I could put a 1/4" spacer in the slot to bring the 2 x 4 up for a flush fit, but I would like to adjust the limiter if possible.  The tech rep at Festool did not seen that familiar with the depth limiter adjustment.
Does anyone know if the Depth Limiter can be adjusted to a higher limit?
Thanks,
Doug

Hi Doug,

The depth limit knob can be rotated to raise and lower the blade to adjust the depth of cut.

See page 14 of the supplemental manual.

I also apologize for not quite understanding the question the first time.  But as mentioned below, once the depth limit knob is fully screwed in, the upper limit is about 1 5/8” - 40mm from the bed.

I had toyed with the thought of removing the depth limit knob and threading the rest of the shaft towards the green knob to get additional range, but haven’t had to do upper limit cuts in a while.

I hope that helps.

An adjustable depth stop is not just on the Kapex, but on each & every SCMS that I've ever owned or used.

Admittedly, it's not as accurate or secure as a Radial Arm Saw, so trenching operations won't necessarily be as flat-bottomed as with a RAS.  Nevertheless, it is a serviceable & useful feature.  Just remember to pack out your workpiece away (an inch or so??) from the fence to allow for the blade's curvature.

The Kapex is a great saw but one of the things that isn't great is the trenching depth, I think the maximum as you have found is  something like 40mm from the bed. Anything above that you have to do by eye.
