Kitchen remodel

In the process of redoing my kitchen. I don't know if you all want pictures or not. I do have an off-the-wall question. I have some long straight edges but I started wondering how many people just use the back of their Festool track as a straight edge for layouts? I wouldn't do so when I use a marking knife but for a pencil, it should work well.

Yeah, done it several times.  I do have a 5 foot ruler, which is handy when the level isn't long enough, but even that won't always reach.
