I'm looking for recommendations for LED string lamps.  I want one bright set for task lighting under a cabinet, and another set or two for accent lighting.  I'm looking for a quality product that's reliable and easy to install.  Your recommendations?

Do any of you have experience with "Hitlights" (http://www.hitlights.com/led-strip-light.html)?

How about RibbonFlex Pro by Armatek Lighting (http://www.armacostlighting.com/ribbonflex.html)?

Thanks in advance for any whatever experience you can share with me.

Regards,

John

I've have not used them but I have read nothing but good things about the RibbonFlex Pro from others.

I used two strips of RGB color changers on my wave wall at home. It might be these brands or something similar, I purchased it at a local LED lighting supplier.  I installed these with their self adhesive backs on a piece of MDF that had been painted (the lights facing downward to wash a wall). The next morning, both strips had come un glued in multiple places, so I put them back up again with small dots of 5 minute epoxy. That solved the problem! Just an FYI...

Just installed them under my cabinets. Really like them!  I can tell you now, make sure you get an appropriate dimmer. These suckers are bright!!

I actually bought a strip of 12 feet from HD as well as the transformer and dimmer for just around 100. I know I could have bout at least 25 feet, but I really only needed 10 feet.

Oh yeah, I remember your wave wall!  It's sooooo coooooool.  My projects won't be as cool, but I do think I'm gonna use an RGB color changer for a couple of 'em.

Do you remember the brand by chance? My local Home Depot has none of these but I could probably find it on their website.

I used the ones from HD. The brand was optiled. I'm pretty happy with mine but these are only white.

Armicost. I really like them. You should be able to order online to the store. The only thing additional I needed was a run of wire.

John,

The good news is that they are all pretty reliable.  I worked for a place that did custom signs and frames, and we embedded the strip LEDs in basically picture frames.  Tne LEDs would shine thru the edge of the glass or acrylic and light up what was on the glass (such as vinyl lettering and artwork).  In the case of laser-etched acyrlic, they would light up the etching).  But I digress ...   [wink]

We never had issues, and many of these have run 24/7 for several years.  This includes single colors, as well as the RGB versions that having controllers on them.

I am getting ready to remodel a study in our house, and really want to do some LED lighting feature.  They are fun, and pretty simple to do. Most of the strip lights can be cut at about 2" intervals, so you have a lot of flexibility in design because you can make them virtually any length you need.  And the peel and stick on them is lousy.  We used clear silicone sealant to glue them into the frames.
