Lately it seems we've been spending too much time and virtual ink on non-festool threads and discussions.

While I'm sure Matthew will have facts at his fingertips proving that the stuff I seem to keep seeing represents .00000009 % of the forum, I can't help but think new members, potential members, and others are getting the same impression I am.

Therefore I propose from this point forward to add to only those threads that are Festool related. I have no interest and axe to grind about politics, jokes, arguments on who and who is not or should be contracted to Festool.

If it's good advice regarding the use, ownership, or care and feeding of Festools I want to hear about it, related woodworking topics will also be much appreciated.

Matthew, my personal preference is for you to take a more editorial approach. I would approve of and support your right and responsibility to remove topics which are off color or irrelevant to the function of this forum. Lets face it, I have probably been in the past as guilty as any in adding to the background noise which has been a part of this forum, however the background noise if starting to drown out the main purpose of coming here on a regular basis.

I'm not asking anyone else to change their behaviour, I'm simply stating my intentions from this point to do a small part towards cleaning up this excellent resource, anyone who happens to agree please send checks or cash to:

I don't really understand what you are refering to. If you don't want to read off topic threads than don't go to the off topic board.

This thread in itself has nothing to do with All tools and Accessories.

Yep, what he said. Best way to get it 'on track' is to add relevant info in the right section, not talk about what you want to change.

Nothing can create a painful dry eye syndrome faster than reading only homogenized, pasteurized, pluralized and martinized opinions.

No joke.

Your best option to avoid reading stuff you deem irrelevant is to avoid navigating to "UNREAD POSTS since last visit" or the "Recent Posts" area at the bottom of the Home Page. Read only the stuff under the categories that interest you to avoid irritation.

There once was a guy from Austin
Who was just like the guy from from Boston
He borrowed the Austin from the guy in Boston
and in the end he still lost em.

If the number of your posts to the OT board are more than 2x the number of your posts that include festools and/or sawdust, something is wrong.

::)

Yeah, and when you're done with that; I have a few other things I'd like ya to take of. Festool sanders suck dust.
                                                                                                                    Thanks

Nah, that ain't it minimal.

Actually the OT board serves a valuable purpose.

we will get to that in a minute.

I think your post should read "if a number of your post's get moved to the OT board"

Now about the ot board, many of us have been around for a long time and there

is just so much festool that one can talk about and still retain some sanity.

Ya see the OT is like a community binder, it allows us to perceive other commentators in a clearer

light.  Catch my drift?

And seeing as every flippin body seems to be voting around here.

I submit my vote that this thread be moved directly to the ot category.

Ditto.

BTW, little variety adds a spice to life. That's what the other areas provide.

Everyone,
The "Off-Topic" board has served us pretty well, and as long as we use it wisely, we're fine!

On the proportion of off-topic and on-topic discussions, have a quick look at the statistics page.  You can find it by clicking on "[more stats]" near the bottom of the home page.
For your convenience, you can see it now by clicking here.

Stay in touch,
Matthew
