Longitudinal Stop

I was wondering why there's not a longitudinal stop available for the MFT/3 like there is for the older models. This seems like a great accessory to make repeatable offcuts. Are there future plans for one?

The older style trimming attachments for the kapex are also compatible with the mft3. The profile has a T-slot in the rear so it slides onto the angle unit like the regular fence; but because of the height of the profile it won't fit below the guiderail.

I modified the longitudinal stop to work with the MFT/3 by using some aluminum pieces to adapt it.

I can take photos if you are interested.

Sure, post the pics. I'm always interested in ideas.

I used two pieces of aluminum to extend the height of the stop to accomodate the MFT/3

The aluminum was 3/4 x 1/8 stock tapped with a 10/32 screw and washer on each piece.

Works great.

Can someone post a photo of this in use? I am having a mental block on how this thing is actually supposed to be used. I couldn't find any instructions on using it. Maybe it is intuitive but I just can't get it.

I can honestly say that I didn't remember that accessory.  Of course that might be because it was posted in my pre-MFT-convert phrase when I thought a table full of holes was dumb.  [doh] [doh] [doh] [doh]

Yeah, seriously what a rip off, your only getting like 80% of the MDF ! It's like potato chip bags with fewer and fewer ounces in the same size bag.  When Festool starts adding more holes , then we will know whats' up  [scratch chin]    [laughing]

Seth,

I was just honest.  I sat in a group of members in a training class in 2009 and when asked about the MFT I gave my opinion.  I have to be true to the 12 witnesses.

Thank you so much for your comment.  But  [censored] [censored] [big grin]

How do you feel about swiss cheese?  Pay more for more holes or pay less?  [poke] [popcorn]

More, definetly more.  It will probably be better cheese.  ;D

So the OP is probably sick of our antics by now.  ::)  [smile]

I openly admit that from my joining here until after I went to Lebanon (the Festool USA holy land - ironic isn't it - also on route 32  (think mm)) I thought that it was an over priced hole infested over rated piece of marketing ho ha.  Then Per posted his thread and I sat and read and reread and...  Then I bought.  :ater I heard about Qwas dogs and thought would a bunch of ....

Hey, you guys shouldn't be able to say that I am not afraid to be honest.

The MFT's full capabilities can sneak up on you.  I am a convert now.  Actually was building an accessory today.

Neil,

I am confused on how you are attaching the stop to your MFT/3.  It seems as though those two aluminum pieces are too long.  As you can see in the pic below, the holes on the stop are only about 12mm away from the channel where the feather key is.  Would you mind clarifying?  I assume you have the arm of the stop resting flat on the MFT/3 surface.

Thanks,
Brian
