Looking for low noise blower fan for air filter.

I would like to build "dream" air filter for my shop, but can't find "right" blower.  In my opinion blower must be very powerful, but very quiet.  I can find blower's CFM, dimensions or power, but don't see level of noise.
Who is manufacturing low noise blowers? Where to buy them? What is reasonable CFM rate for 600-800 sq.f shop?
Is it possible to make unit much better and quieter that Jet 1000? I believe its noise level is around seventish dBA.
There are plenty of dust filters for around $150 with really low level of noise, but how good they are? (Wen, Grizzly, ShopFox and such)

Thanks. VictorL

I need something like this:

I think the link above is a better alternative than the one you show.  Take a look.

Thanks, but I already have Laguna dust collector.  I need filter in addition to cyclone and Festool vacuums

You are confused.  The link is to an air filter, not a dust collector.  Look at the picture in the link under C. Solution.  The air filter is made from a filter with a blower sitting on top of it.

thanks, got it, overlooked it on small phone screen. :)
For any solution I need quiet fan or blower.

Older post, but I'm curious if you ever found a quiet blower motor? I've been thinking about upgrading my box fan air filter and have been looking at an air mover or a blower motor.

Rigid 1625 CFM Air Mover, which has a db rating of 60. Probably not as quiet as a blower motor, but on par with my air compressor.

OEM Blower Motor. The blower motor has a CFM rating of 1000 - 1220. No clue what the db rating on the blower motor is, but my furnace blower is pretty quiet. I assume this would be similar.

My current DIY filter is a This Old House style box fan filter...

...but I'd like to move a bit more air if possible.

I use an old furnace blower as my air filtration system. It, encased in a wooden box, isn't noisy at all. When other machines -- SawStop or Kapex (both connected to some kind of dust extraction) -- are in use with my hearing protection, I can't hear any sound from the furnace blower.

Regarding CFM, this Dayton blower (1640 rpm) has only 273 CFM listed:https://www.amazon.ca/Dayton-1TDR3-...ocphy=9001335&hvtargid=pla-308632947789&psc=1

The dB for my furnace blower:78.4  vs for the box fan 75.3. (Level at which hearing damage begins after 8 hours without using hear protection is 85dB.) Instead of 4, I now use only two filters one as a pre-filter for the furnace blower.

The box fan cleaner is found to be good for sanding station, etc. -https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/portable-air-purifier-tests-marketplace-1.5900782

I got all my 20x20 filters (MERV 11 /MPR 1200 / FPR5) here:https://alberta.furnacefilters.ca/collections/20x20x1 , about $6 Cdn per filter.

Yes. This is basically what I want to do: furnace blower in a box. I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist for used blowers but I haven't come across any that are local to me which prompted me to look elsewhere.

273 seems pretty low. For comparison, this JET Air Filter mentions 1700 CFM. My LASKO Box Fan says it moves 1820 CFM, but I've got 4 2" filters on it so I have no idea what the actual CFM is.

I would think furnace blowers would be moving way more air than a box fan.

I just measured the noise from my current box fan at 12" and the NIOSH SLM app put it at 66.5 db.

I've got it hanging over my outfeed/assembly table. It's not pretty and when it comes time to clean/change the filters, I'll basically need to reconstruct it with duct tape  [crying]

Supa quiet...well at least on medium. Although they are not cheap, the filter lasts a really long time. I run mine almost constantly, as I have a Dylos particle meter which seems to always read higher than desired. A few cuts with a power saw and the Dylos reads over 5000, which also means mask on.   http://www.powermatic.com/us/en/p/powermatic-pm1250-micro-dust-afs/1791331

I like how easily cleanable the filter is on the Powermatic unit.

Snip.

If I remember correctly, the noise reading on my cellphone audio app for the box fan was also lower than that shown in the audio-meter. My Lasko box fan is rated 1785 CFM.

I have blower motors out of old mini split air conditioning units that a buddy of mine pulled out and salvaged. Built a couple boxes and added 2 inch thick filters. They are super quiet, and move plenty of air.  4 of them hanging in my shop. [attachimg=1]
