So I have to ask why are the holes somewhat egg shaped in the LR 32 Guide rail?
I haven't got the guide rail drill set yet so they might be for a purpose but this is really strange to me.

The oval shaped holes allow for some alignment of the router plate, router, and rail. Otherwise they system would be over-constrained. With the LR32 system the holes are merely an index for the router plate. the index pin on the plate falls into the oval hole and is constrained longitudinally along the rail by the narrow section of the oval shaped hole. Transversely, the plate is constrained by the rail itself.  I hope that makes some sense.

Dude if its a question for the competition  then put  ?   behind it otherwise it wont count.

Now it makes some sense to me, It seemed strange to see considering it was a Festool Goody..
I had the luck of obtaining two guide rails at a garage sale over the weekend one was the LR 32 (1080/2) the other a (1400/2).
I guess for 20 bucks each I didn't go wrong.
Thanks for the answer
Sal

JMB    it wasn't but it is now, Thanks

how did you quote shane from a different thread.

yes the holes are to only act as stops on one direction only . they are eliptical so that the play can be taken out of the sled.
great find on the 2 rails.

Yo sorry for the late reply!  I missed this message for some reason when I checked the thread.

Its very easy just go to the thread quote the person like normal.  I did Shane  then copy and paste what you want  onto another thread.  I did it on this one.
