LR32 router mounting choices...

I will be getting a LR32 system shortly and pondered what router to use. 

I figured that smaller and lighter routers are better for plunging the 5mm holes.  However, the OF 1010 mounts with clamps from the top side of the plate and I have some concern about the router base shifting on the LR32 plate during use.  I see that many of you use this setup.

The OF1400 seems like overkill, but I like the way the LR32 plate screws to the router base.

Has anyone here drilled a LR32 plate and mounted a non-Festool plunge router?  Something, like a DeWalt DWP611?

I had the opportunity to use both in router class at Festool.  The clamps do hold the 1010 securely and it is a great router to use for this application.  As long as you do not bang the router around alot it works perfectly fine.  With that said, the 1400 uses the screws and it does securely mount the plate to the base with no danger of moving it off-center.  If you think you would need to swap the router for different applications a lot, then the 1010 might be easier and faster, but if that is not a concern, then the 1400 would ensure no movement.

I use the 1010 the 1400 is overkill for that task but its good to have the flexability

I think you could mount just about any small router with a 8m collet to the plate, ideal if you were to leave it attached permanently.

I've never had the 1010 come loose. It only takes a second to check the knobs occasionally but I can't remember them ever actually needing tightening.

I use the 1400 and it is perfect for the LR32 as well as many other tasks.

The 1400 is a taller router and wider in it's motor area.  The 1010 fits the hand on top of the motor housing better and being shorter is slightly more comfortable because it is lower.

I really like my 1010. Its awesome to use with the LR 32 system. Plus it can be used to trim edge banding and has a lot of affordable accessories.

I have dropped mines with the LR 32 base on it and yes it did move a little but it was no biggie realigning.

It hasnt moved yet when I hand tightened the knobs that hold the base on.

There is some discussion about the 1400 pros and cons on that thread to.

If you dont want or need a edge band trimmer , I dont think you can go wrong with either one of the routers.

Im getting ready to pick up a 1400. Mainly because I got a lot of 1/2" shank router bits. plus it overlaps the 1010 nicely.

But I will be reaching for the 1010 first .
