Hello,

I need to replace the splinter guards on pretty much all my tracks, that's about 8m in all.
Has anybody tried the splinter guides for Makita guide rails? They are significantly less expensive then festool ones at about £7 for 3m delivered as opposed to £8.30 for 1.4m plus delivery for festool ones.
While searching for the answer to my question on here I came across the idea of taking the old ones off and reattaching them a bit further over with double side tape, has anyone had any success doing this?

Cheers, Andy.

The Makitas work well. Make sure you clean the rail well before applying the new strip.

Many here have switched over to the Makita strips.  I am not saying the majority, but there are many. They have written that the adhesion is better and that they prefer the non-translucent.

It was unclear in your post if you were asking about moving the Makita strips or the Festool strips.  I don't remember immediately about posts on this with the Makita strips (sorry for my bad memory) but the adhesive for the Festool strips was designed to allow for the repositioning.  BUT if you read here you will read numerous posts about users being unhappy about the adhesives holding properly on the Festool strips.

I hope that I have presented both sides honestly.

Peter

Thanks very much for all the replies guys, I'm off to order the makita strips now.
