MFK 700 Which bases and bits

I have seen the videos etc, but I am a bit confused by the MFK 700.  What are the uses for each of the bases (I know there are 3) and are there any recommended Festool bits?  I have seen the videos about the router not handling longer bits so I was curious as to what Festool had in mind for the bits.
