MFT/3 Fence Doesn't Lay Flat?

Hi ya'll,

So I'm having a heck of a time trying to square a panel of wood.  After checking, double checking, triple checking, I noticed that my fence doesn't lay flat...  Could that be a problem?  When I bought my MFT/3 from Bob Marino, he showed up with 1080 rail that had a dent on the corner.  He replaced it promptly, however, I don't know if this curved fence could also be a problem?

Are you using it in the low profile setting or high profile setting?
In the high profile setting it will cause a problem.
Put a straight edge on the edge that you are putting your panel on and check it.
If it's out get a new one.

I've only used it in the low position as I've only been cutting 3/4 ply.    I haven't not checked it with a straight edge.  I'll look into that!  Thanks!

depends could be a few things going on. Is the protractor sitting correctly in the v channel? Is the black thing that that secures the rear of the fence sitting correctly in the v channel and is it installed correctly?
Go through and check your set up

Hi Tim,
Please edge-a-ma-kate me.
What the heck is the "Low Angle and High Angle" setting of the fence?

Do you mean putting the cross-cut guide rail on top of the high part of the fence?  Flipping it on edge?  If so, how do you cut through?
I'm not getting it.  Not too proud to ask. [smile]

In this photo I have 3 fences installed on the MFT 3. The 2 in the foreground are in the high position, the 3rd one is in the low potion.

When in the high position the fence is most commonly placed to the rail. There are times the piece being cut is tall enough to place the fence under the rail, I've only run into that a few times.

Tom,

duh.  I was only thinking about the one attached to the end of the table.  Not when the protractor is used.

Thanks

Luke
