MFT/3 Multifunction or MFT Basic?

I am just wondering if it would be better to buy the Basic, and then buy additional accessories for the Basic... Or if I should buy the Multifunction, and STILL buy additional accessories...

Or a more boiled down question... What are the absolute must have accessories for the MFT/3 work table considering initial use will mainly be with the TS 55, and later the DS500 and OF1400...

Thanks!  [smile]

The price difference between a MFT/3 Basic and MFT/3 is only $165 bucks.  It's not much more, but it does give you some more functionality possibly in the future.  You get some extra parts, and also a 42" rail (may or may not be useful).  I bought the MFT/3 and the QWAS dogs, festool quick clamps, and festool clamping elements.  It's a slippery slope.

You kinda get a few more things for not so much more money IMO...I mean...in the grand scheme of things right?

Are you going to use the MFT for crosscutting or just as a clamping surface?  I think that's the decision factor.  You can crosscut without the MFT miter gauge, but it's real easy to use it.

If you're ever going to get the CMS-VL then that comes with it's own miter gauge and fence, assuming you get the all-out sliding kit.

Per the many suggestions, including yours, in my previous thread... I plan on starting out with the TS 55 and MFT, and yes definitely going to crosscut. The CMS-VL looks nice, but is pricey, can I not use the OF 1400 with guides on MFT table for routing needs?

Thanks for the input!
