MFT Aluminum Extrusions

I am designing a new workbench for use in my home shop.  I like many of the features of the MFT but I don't need the portability and it is not heavy enough for handplaning, etc. 
The question is can I order lengths of the aluminum extrusion that are on the edge of the MFT to build into my design?

As Shane has mentioned many, many times on FOG, it is Festool USA policy to never comment about their business plans and decisions.

Welcome to the forum.  What length profiles (extrusions) are you looking for?  Some here have added sections of profile to their benches to allow them to use the Guide Rail Support Brackets, and thus have a nice method to mount their Guide Rail(s) to their benches.  A short section may be all that you will require, or maybe a longer length is what you would prefer.  Also, keep in mind that there are two styles of profile.  The earlier versions of the MFT had a different profile than the current MFT/3, and the Support Brackets are slightly different.  The newer MFT/3 profiles have the V-shaped area on the upper edge, while the older MFT profiles were mostly flat across the top with an included T-slot.  If you care to elaborate on just what you are looking to obtain, you may just find that a member here has what you are looking for.   [wink]

Hmmm..I'm just a bit confused when following Matt's link

Comparing with pictures of the MFT/3 found on the internet the extrusions shown in Matt's link doesn't look like the MFT/3 extrusion. It seems to have another "profile" without the V-groove.

Is the 496892 the correct part no. for the MFT/3 ? Or is it just a wrong extrusion shown in the picture.

That picture is of the old profile from the MFT800 & MFT1080. You are correct that the MFT-3 profite is quite different. I suspect the website in question simply has the wrong picture attached.

Thanks! I didn't have the guts to order the profiles without being 100% sure. They're not cheap! [tongue]
