I am looking to make a MFT style bench. The aim is to have Systainer storage underneath and an MFT style top. How much space do I need under an MFT top to allow for the quick clamps to be used. (Top will be 18mm MDF)

The rough size of the project will be 800mm deep x 1200mm wide and around 900mm tall although that depends on some of the measurements. So I should get 3 systainers wide on two sides.

I have a recent thread here about my sysport workbench. For a stand alone bench 800mm depth is great, for against a wall it's too deep.
But to answer your question, you need 70mm of depth under the worktop to be able to insert the clamps, in my design I used that necessity to make it into a torsion box.

Great answer thanks. My bench will against the wall but it will be the 800mm side that's at the wall and sticking out by 1400.

Just seen your link - I saw a video that I think you made ages ago with your bench and demoing sanding on it with a non slip mat?

That's pretty much my inspiration for this! I also watched you more recent video yesterday - how bizarre that you now post to help me! Thanks

Excellent stuff. I assume part 3 of the video isn't uploaded yet. I'm loving the bench and it's great to see you going with the domino holes for resting the bottom of boards on again with this build. I thought that was a good idea from the first bench and it obviously works if you're doing it again.

Thanks for sharing. Oh and your workshop is..... well just about the best I've ever seen. Not jealous at all. That said this is just a hobby for me.

You are welcome to a set of plans for my mobile bench free of charge.

Peter

Just noticed the bench was not complete in the first photo. The second picture shows the drawers on the other side.

Hi Peter,

I did see your video(s) as well. I'm looking to make mine slightly differently but plans would be good as there will be elements I can use. I've already got my parf dogs and parf guide system ready to make it!

I still need to make the space for where it will be going.
