Hi All

Before I go and order it I have just had a price of £100.00 for a 2400mm x 1200mm x 18mm MDF top drilled with the MFT holes on a CNC Router. I have no idea if this is a reasonable price or not, sounds pretty good but has anyone any thoughts please.

Matthew

PS Its really addictive this Festool system is'nt it .

Hi Matthew

That is a really good price - sounds like JMB has got his CNC up and running after all!

You need to check everything when it is made. Some cutters get sharpened and maybe a fraction under size. The squareness on the table will affect the true between edges and holes.

If it is JMB he will give you a shovel to use whilst you wait!

Hi Matthew

They look pretty good. If you get a choice of grade of MDF get the best that you can as it makes sense to start with the best material when the machining costs are significant.

You will need to ask them what material they stock and seek FOG advice if need be - I am not an MDF expert.

100 gbp sounds like a good deal.
bring your bench dogs etc with you to check the fit and also a large square to make sure the holes are actually square to each other

definetly get the best mdf you can. the cheapo crap will wear around the holes

Mathew that sounds like a great price,it took me a day and a half to make mine..

Peter I dont use the egdes I use the dogs and work off those so it does not matter if the edge of the board is not parallel, when would you need them to be parallel to the edge?

I was somewhat sceptical about your dogs when you first produced them and have been looking forward to seeing some reviews but have not seen any have many been sold?

the edges of thee board could be cut off the dog holes, to square up a top relative to the holes.

I will make another at some point but will only have maybe three or four rows of holes in each direction

I take your point about the hole and edges but it would be nice to have them in line.

I haven't a clue how well the Parf Dogs are doing because I just allowed my design to be used free of charge and so I get nothing from it at all and have no knowledge of their popularity. Having said that, I get quite a few PMs through YouTube from owners all around the world, mostly from NA, and so I guess they must be selling reasonably well.

I like to support UK PLC and thought Intelligent Workshop seemed the right sort of people to have the first go with the Parf Dogs. Anyone can copy them as long as they keep the name - that way we all know what we are talking about. You never know, one day Ferstool might make some!
