I'm in the market for an small portable miter saw with table on top. (DeWalt 711)

Because it has to be small, lightweight en very portable, I'm thinking about making a jig with a short piece of festool rail (max 40cm).

Sort of MFT-top-fence-rail but a lot smaller ... same size as a small miter saw base.

Anyone ever made something like this ?

You posted this at just the right time. Last night I was contemplating about ordering a 1080 rail and cutting it in half. I was also wondering if there was anyone else that would also be interested. I think that 540mm would be a great lenth, it would be enough to start the saw without a plunge cut and stilll be able to cut 12" shelving. I plan on attaching the angle unit to the rail with a T nut. This would make a very handy little setup. Would you like to go halves on a rail?
