Hi All,

This is my first post. My name is Pierre from France. That's it ;)

I just want to present my humble small kinda MFT.
It's small because i haven't room to have a bigger one.

I'be built it as an extension of my B&D Workmate. Just to use less space as possible.

The holes have been drilled with a festool bit of 20mm. This bit is just the right one. The space between each hole is not perfect (error about 0,5mm to 1mm) as the one on a true MFT BUT 'cause there's a BUT ;) I will retry the drill operation with a new strategy ;)

regards.

Well done Pierre and welcome to Festool Owner's Group!

You will enjoy your stay here just as the vast majority of our other members have.

Nice first try. I like the homemade clamps for the guide rail.

Not all of us have the luxury of space. You've got to make do with what you have.

Could the guide rail help in cutting the holes? Make a little jig to guide the drill bit in place. Have marks on the rail where each hole (or the jig to guide the drill bit) needs to go.

Welcome to the FOG. We have a few other members from France.

Pierre,
Wow, very nice! Looks highly portable too! What length guide rail are you using? I love my Workmates!

Bonjour Pierre  ;)

Good creative work.

As I suggested elsewhere, try to get hold of a genuine MFT table top, even used
and marked by age. Then you can use it to copy the hole pattern with mininal
risk of misplacement.

Glad to see other frogs in the FOG. We were 3 when I joined, now 11.
May be we have a cheese and wine party somewhere one of these days ...

Michel

Thank you very much for your enthusiasm.

Mike: I'm using the FS 800/2. I also have the FS1400/2 but too long for this usage;)

Qwas: Nice idea, my first try was using the FS 800/2 and my OF1400 with the height trim which have a centered graduation. But i think i was wrong with my settings :( Ah ! I'm just beginning ;)

The Woodentop: I'm already enjoying the FOG ;) But it's my first post.

mhch: ;)

Pierre.

Well two thumbs up on you workmate workstation!  And welcome!

Pierre, that is the nice part, you are practicing on a shop project... Better to make mistakes here and learn from them rather than a valuable project!

Don't feel bad, we've all made mistakes.  ;)   Some of us (myself) just don't tell anyone.  ;D

pierre, good work

aparantly the japanese word to learn translates as copy in english (its what ive been told anyway)

you have copied the best and in doing so you have learned as well

now all you have to do is the next japanese thing in learning, go and innovate

or another way with innovation, adapt your new knowledge to another woodwork project

Hi,

Is the MFT top held in place by part of the underneath structure clamped into the workmate?

Seth

Hi,

How about uploading it to the SU Warehouse, and they simply posting the link?

Hope you don't mind, but I've just added your model to my 'Festool Power Tool' collection on SU Warehouse.

i don't mind. you can modify/copy/publish, ... ;) it's a kind of Open Source ;)
