Some of those following this thread may not have seen my mobile bench project videos, in particular the one where I create the top using the Armeg Wood Beaver bit. I bought the bit 2 years ago and have made several replicated MFT tops and now this new bench top. It is still producing very clean holes. Here is a link to the video about the top:



Slappy has been testing the Armeg but I do not know how he is getting on.

I obtained the same Hertel 25/32 end mill the OP linked to and can confirm the holes it produces are perfect for 20mm dogs.  Parf dogs fit with zero play when seated and Precision Dogs have a snug "air tight" fit.

I did an MFT top using the Festool 20mm router bit last week and just measured the holes with a digital caliper and they came out to 20.10mm.  The Parf dogs and SS bench dogs are 19.90mm and the QWAS rail dogs seem to be tapered a bit (19.80mm on the top and 19.86mm on the bottom).  So if you take the difference, that works out to the holes being 0.20mm oversized.

Now I am using the cheap MDF from Home Depot, so maybe that could affect the hole size?  Regardless, I find the Parf dogs, SS bench dogs, and QWAS rail dogs all fit rather nicely.  I wouldn't call the fit sloppy.  Is there a little bit of play?  Yes, but it is ever so slight...almost not noticeable.  I would rather have them easier to use than to be fighting with them to get them in and out of the holes.

How much is this really going to affect the accuracy of the cuts you make?  My guess is fractions of a millimeter.

What speed are you using for your router wen ou cut te oles? Just curious....That is one sexy MFT top!!

Or market "Skinny" Dogs.  I made the Paulk workbench and used a 3/4" bit, now that I found out about the dogs, wished I had done them in 20mm.  Looking for a good plunge bit to do the 20mm staggered next to the 3/4" holes in various spots.  Top is going to be very Holy. [eek]

Let's call them underdogs.
