I'd like to add a few comments. First, don't underestimate the importance of the vac in producing good results, not just with this sander but, with all sanders. I would highly recommend a Festool vacs to be used with their sanders. Finding the right speed for the sander and suction for the vac can make a big difference in the finished product. Orbital sanders do require a bit more focus, I find keeping them moving at all times in long passes with grain helps reduce the chances of swirl marks. As Underused pointed out you really do have to be careful taking the off the work (while it is running). His comment about "the sander not doing all the work" is great. I sometimes think people believe sanding is a job that doesn't require any skill or knowledge, that is just plain wrong! There is real skill involved, learning this skill takes some time. Sanding is the first step to getting a high quality finish and its an important one that is often overlooked.
Festool's sanders are some of the best money can buy, but as Underused said, you need to do the work. Nice review.
