so we pay £5.50 for  a us gallon of diesel

= $ 8.86 US.... or 7.07 Euro  [censored]

Makes $3.80 per gallon US and 20 mpg US not look horrible. Even if you guys can get 30-40 mpg...still more than we are paying per mile.

Cheer,
Steve

But you are burning twice as much planet per mile.

Kev, you got that right! I would love 40 mpg and I don't know anyone here that would not buy the 40 mpg vehicle if we had them here! All I can think is that Big Oil likes Auto companies that make low MPG vehicles.

Cheers,
Steve

At the risk of straying into "forbidden post" territory there may well be another element here. In the UK and Europe about 75% of the cost of fuel is tax, so the "need" for more efficient engines is acute or most people couldnt afford to drive.

On your side of the pond the taxation level is a lot lower, but you burn more, so the more tax is obtained, etc, etc.

As you cannot avoid the levy as it is at the pump, the incidents of fuel thefts from vehicles is very high over here.

No not hybrids just a petrol or diesel car.  Diesel can achieve 80mpg I think.   If it was a hybrid I would expect over a 100mpg other whise it would be a pretty useless hybrid to buy to be honest.

Dude!  Where's the flat screen?

Awesome setup.  It's the creature comforts that sometimes get left out of planning.  Simple things like a warm meal in the winter, and a cools drink in the summer can really make a day go by that much easier.

Love it.

That looks awesome. I was thinking about those yellow plastic trays but didn't know if they would stay in place. Great storage. How big of an inverter do I need to charge batteries and maybe run a small tool.

Tim, i got one at Napa probably five years ago for $50 and i use it regularly for batteries and on occasion used it with small tools. It wont run a chop saw. Eric

I'm guessing a couple of strong hooks and a hammock could come in handy on a bad weather day !
