I want some metal bits made up for a shelf pin jig im thinking of making and wondered if its the sort of thing anyone here can help with. Here is a sketch up of what I need , maybe in stainless steel or aluminium what ever is best in your opinion. There are small chamfers on the edges to aid pushing them into holes in the jig. These items will be used as alignment pins. I just need to get an idea of how much they will cost me. cheers

My plan is to drill a length of phenolic plastic with 17mm holes spaced at 32mm centres. This will be used with my router and 17mm guide bush to drill 5mm shelf pin holes. The pin on the left will be used to align the jig with an existing set of holes when moving the jig up the cabinet. The righthand one is for lining up with the end of an 18mm carcass, making the first hole 9mm in.

Cool I'm with you now. I'd say someone with a lathe could turn them in 15 - 20 mins out if some scrap stainless or aluminium for you at very little cost.

Do you know any steel guys??? maybe someone who has done work for you before? I have a load of that phenolic sheet in store ready to make jigs out of.

I do hate cutting and drilling it though because it is is noxious to use.... really nasty stuff.

If you dont know any steel guys just yellow page it .

I have always found steel suppliers eager to manufacture weird and wonderful stuff over the years for a reasonable price.

you could use a wood turning lathe. or find a  hobiest engineer (maybe on an engineering forum)

I got a message from someone on another forum . Someone in a unit near him does precision engineering and said he would do it for nothing and it will only take 5 minutes on his lathe. Hes near Acton west London about 14 miles from me not far.

I didnt see this topic yesterday so im to late.  Was going to say I know a guy up the road who could make them easily enough.

cant beat Free lol!
