I truly wonder what the Symmetric is used for...

Me too - apparently, it used to sell quite well on the continent (pre-Kapex). It was never popular here in the UK, in fact a Festool sales rep once told me that there were fewer than 10 of them in the whole of the UK!

I didn't want to make fun of the Symmetric on the assumption that someone valued it for something.

Now the truth.  The first thing I thought of when I saw those capacities was cutting molding for picture frames.  And not very big molding, either.

I got the new 08/09 catalog Kapex and all. The price for the Kapex is $1300.00.

I have not received the new catalogue yet.  That price is exactly what some dealers told me to expect, though.  It's nice to know they were accurately pre-informed.

April 9, 2008 - My new catalogue arrived.  The cover is upside down relative to the contents.  Did anyone else get one with this assembly error?

Here's a Symmetric beside a Kapex, courtesy of Llap Goch.

If JRB's information is accurate, this is one of 10 in the UK.

It does sit very nicely on the Systainer stack.

The Kapex must be very smooth and quiet, just look at how relaxed those dogs are. 

My two pups head for the hills at the first sight of any woodworking equipment.

Say, without the saw, that base could be very handy for several things.  But then again, maybe not as handy as it is shown with the saw on top.

Yesterday I checked the Newbees at Holz Handwerk Fair in Nuernberg, Germany. This VAC-System is a great Thing, but for me not really interesting!
