Just had the post delivered, and in there was the new UK catalogue. I wasn't expecting it, I didn't know when they were doing one.

it's like Christmas has come early!!!  ;D  ;D  ;D

Well, to say this is a 2010/2011 catalogue, it doesn't include any of the most recent product developments (Kapex 88, multi-jetstream sanding, Domino decking system, new LR32 rails, new guide rail bag, etc.), so it's effectively out of date already.

Additionally, there's a section in the back extolling the virtues of the 'tools for profit' rewards scheme, which Festool UK doesn't support.

It seems it's just a straight translation of a previous European catalogue rather than a 'new' one written & compiled for the UK - typical of Festool's support for the UK market.

The US catalog is released at the beginning of each year.  Historically, between January and March.

Festool should think long and hard about price increases. Even as a high priced luxury brand, Festool needs to not price itself out of the market. Let's face it Festool is a luxury brand, sort of like BMW, Chanel or whatever. I don't believe most of the tools are overpriced based on what they provide the purchaser. A few of the key gateway tools are overpriced though. I think that is one of the real problems to increasing market share.
I was in a friends office yesterday talking about my C12. He needs a new cordless and has tried the C12. This guy can easily afford a C12 or T15 much easier than myself or many of us. He balked at the prices but even more so at the accessory prices in the catalogue. I have seen this several times and commented on it.
The new catalogue hopefully will not contain accessory price increases. I truly believe lower accessory prices would be compensated for by increased sales. Even for me knowing the value of the tools and components, ready that catalogue and adding up a few accessories for purchase adds up to hundreds too fast.

Well done - both for getting some post delivered at all (the Royal Mail has been having a series of strikes at the moment), and for getting the catalogue sent to you!  :)

Is this the catalogue that is more like a book (eg 300 pages, A4, 18mm thick), or the one like a thick brochure (eg 40 pages, A4, 4mm thick)?

Wow. I've only ever had an A3 20-page newsletter-type of thing. Am I not spending enough to qualify???  :(

But yes, any mail would be good right now...
