New Festool HKC 55 regular circular saw

The plunge cut on a TS operates on a spring loaded pivot and you have to plunge to engage the blade on every cut. The HKC operates like a sidewinder type saw where the depth is typically set before engaging the saw. It's depth is set on the back and is not spring loaded. You can plunge with this saw, but it is a different control and the blade does not retract after the cut.

Thank you! Just found a great video ( ) that along with your answer helped me a great deal.

But (there's always a but) it appears in the video the HKC plunges with the opposite motion of the TSC; the TSC looks to plunge back to front & the HKC front to back (sorry for my lack of technical terms) & like my girlfriends 7 year old is fond of asking...... Why is that?

Thank you all again for all your help so far!
