Apologies if this has been asked before, search doesn't like short words.

I've had an ETS-EC125 or some time and recently purchased a CT-MIDI from festoolrecon to use with that and my Shaper Origin. I went looking for bags, considering the "long life (reusable?) bag.

I purchased a "CLEANTEC CT MIDI I HEPA" in February 2024. When searching for bags at Rockler, for example, I see "Festool Longlife Filter Bag LL-FIS-CT MINI/MIDI-2/CT15 (240309)" and text about post 2019 MIDI's but they only sell CT-MIDI I.

Is there a CT-MIDI II? I assume mine is post-2019 but buying from festoolrecon I started to second guess myself. What is the difference between pre- and post-2019 and is there a "MIDI II" as opposed to a MIDI-2? So confused.

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Yeah the naming was weird and confusing imo.

There is only one new version of the Mini/Midi launched (about 2019)

It looks like the one below. It’s sometimes called the MIDI I and I’ve also seen MIDI II
If it looks like the one below, it’s the new one.

The 1st MIDI was simply called MIDI. It had conventional rotary switches.
The 2nd MIDI and current machine is called MIDI I. It has membrane switches.

Ah thank you. Mine looks like the new one and has bluetooth (half the reason I got it over the Mini, me being cheap and only needing a small dust extractor).

Look at the backside of the Midi, below the electrical cord.  There is a nameplate sticker below the cord on the right hand side.  That nameplate has a manufacturer's date on it.  (this applies to other Festool tools also-in case you buy more from Recon ).  On the RH side of the sticker it has FESTOOL in green letters, then below that a box that states the amps, and then below that another box that has the Month/year it was manufactured, like 04-21 for April 2021.  As Cheese stated, the newer one is the Midi I model and that is also on the nameplate.

It is easy to get confused following Festool's model # and names (like Midi and Midi I).  It seems when a new model # is needed, it is just picked at random.  They changed systainer style a few years ago and even though the tool itself did not change, that required a new model #.

Yeah the use of suffix 'I' is kinda poor. Would have been better if they used '2' or the Roman II.

I think whoever named the bags agreed with that  [tongue]
