Yes, they are compatible, but you don't have the benefits of Airstream and since the older chargers are TCL 3 (3-amp) the charge times will be slower than the new TCL 6 (6-amp) and AirStream SCA 8 (8-amp).

Only the SCA 8 (8-amp) has the AIRSTREAM technology.

[member=1501]Samo[/member], no inventory but I can find out for sure. The batteries should fit I think. The charger likely will not. I know there will be new inserts for the AirStream cordless tools.

[member=1501]Samo[/member], there are no compatibility issues with using the new batteries on your existing 18v tools, which I have confirmed. But it sounds like you will need a new Systainer insert for the batteries and/or new charger to fit. We are checking with Festool to get part numbers so we can stock them for our customers who want to upgrade.

As I read it, these do not have USB out, so I doubt they will charge a connected phone.  Probably come with a mini-out cable similar to a headphone jack on your phone for wired connection.

Based on availability at individual dealers, cordless tools will available with either Airstream or the traditional batteries for the time being. (Obviously, excluding non-18-volt tools, which won't have an Airstream option.)
