Considering it's made in China, sold at a 40% lower MSRP than the PSC 420 and they just low-key announced a 420 successor it'd make perfect sense if they tried to market it as a gateway drug into the system (as someone commented earlier on the PSC-E-designator; similar to the essentials-only T18-Easy drill)

I don't believe this cordless is the successor to the 420 since it doesn't have the assortment of accessories and functionality. Rumor has it that a proper 420 successor will be announced later in 2026.

Indirectly ... the anti-strip inserts for the new low end one are referenced as (for) a non-existent PS 500 .. which is an obvious hint at a PS 500 series saw follow-up on the PS 420 series.

An actual Carvex replacement is expected for fall 2026, Festool hinted at it in social media responses a couple times now.
