New kitchen

Yeah, you're not going to be right again for at least another 15 months or so....

And you'll be getting lots of sleep, too!

One thing we learned YEARS ago was that it is not a good idea to be too quiet when kids are trying to sleep. Otherwise they become sensitive to the least little noise, and you have to tiptoe around for several years. SO, you should be able to just keep working on the kitchen, day or night . . .

Yeah that was the plan. At my current pace I won't be able to finish everything in time. If my estimate are correct I will still have to enclose the fridge and the washer & dryer, make the top molding and the arch over the sink :-X

I did a lot of spraying today and finally got to install the drawer faces.
The installation was a snap thanks to the offset chuck of my C12.

Time to get to the doors...

That's looking really great. Are there more uppers going in near the range hood?

There is a spot for a 15" wide upper there. I haven't decided if I build a regular one or if I try something else. I was thinking maybe some quarter round shelves.

I can't get over the difference between the original and yours.  Wow.

Regarding being right -- no, that time hasn't come yet, as of almost 21 years since the pregnancy.

A friend of mine, a logger, has a bumper sticker that reads:
"A man stands alone in a forest.
    There is no woman present.
    Is he still always wrong?"
I quoted this to a woman friend of mine.  Her immediate answer was, "YES!"

Tom, now in SE Pennsylvania.

PS.  I was wrong to post this.  Don't tell my wife.

One great thing near the stove is a shallow doored cabinet for a spice rack. We have ours built in front of the hood, with uppers flanking it. Yours is really coming out great.

Hi Eli,

This was indeed going to be the spice cabinet.
I think I am going to make a standard upper (I can cut one of thoses in less than an hour now that I have the trainning) and was maybe build some kind of tiny high tech wooden lazy suzan where I could store everything horizontally on multiple levels.

I will get to it as soon as I am done redoing the two doors that goes under the sink which I managed to cut (and glue) 1 1/2 inch short  :o

Finally, the kitchen look like a kitchen again !!!

I took the day off today, and I had the time to finish all the doors.
The doors where installed with blum 3/4" overlay, the mortises for the cups were done on the drill press.
I experimented with the LR32 system but the process is really slow for that task.
I of course use the C12 to install everything but I wished Festool would provide a full set of self centering bits. I ended up having to use a set from Snapy mounted on the C12 with the BHS 65 which is not the most comfortable setup.
I also added some blumotion for door which are extremely easy to install and works great.

From now on my project will probably slow down quite a bit as a new member will be added to the family tomorrow.
I will next tackle the area around the fridge...

Congratulations!  And good work on the kitchen, too.

Wow!  Looks great.  Looking at those photos, you can almost smell the coffee brewing.

I have a new assistant in the shop. My project is certainly going to be done much faster with her help  ;D

Merry Christmas Emmanuel, and Congratulations. Catch up on the sleep if you can  ;D

Emmanuel,

Congratulations to you and your wife on the birth of your beautiful new daughter.  Take some time off to enjoy life with both of them!!  Merry Christmas.

Emmanuel,

I agree with Lancashire, but many of the best moments of my life came when my daughter "became mobile."  She (at age 3) "helped" me lay bricks when I added on a garage/shop at my former house, and later really helped me tear down an deck that was poorly constructed of poorly chosen materials by the contractor who built the house, and later truly worked to help with finish sanding of a writing table that I made for her.  Your life will never again be the same as it was before she arrived, but you are going to love it and her!
