New MFT/3

After a long wait I recieved my order I placed with a certain dutch tool site [smile]

I'm having some trouble with the guide rail attachments, they slide really really snug into the extrusions. So snug actually, it's really hard to install/adjust them. I wonder if there's anything that can be done to improve this? Some kind of lubricant maybe?

My table also came without any factory set stops to easily install & position the guide rail attachments  [sad]
I'm pretty sure they are part of the standard package in the US, but before I make a complaint I'd like to hear from someone in The Netherlands or Belgium how theirs came? Hopefully I won't end up having to buy them extra.

The cam clamps may be adjusted too tight. Try slackening the allen bolts a little. My UK table was supplied with stops in place and perfectly square.

Likely what the first poster suspects.  Back out those allen bolts a bit.  Also, check in the tracks of the MFT and see if the bolts were dragging and left marks.  That'll be a sure sign that was the issue.

Well after some careful checking I have to conclude it's not the bolts. It's definitely the plastics that don't slide well with the metal and aluminium extrusions.

if it is a small bit tight i would give it a rub of sandpaper to ease it a bit . if it is a lot off then send it back

It eases up.  Mine was tight for a while

mines is that way.

All I do is move the handle , jiggle it a little and find a spot where it slides in the groove easier.

I do it every time.

It works for me.

That's what I do. I've had my MFT for a couple of years now and it still hasn't eased up. I could loosen the bolts but I don't mind it so I left it.

Mine was very tight when I first got it. Festool tried many things to help out even exchanging the sliding units. They are still pretty snug but after a year of use they slide easier.

A little update on the situation. On May 23rd I sent a little e-mail detailing the problem and even included the MFT/3 schematic and pointed out which parts are missing. A few hours later I got a reply saying they would order the parts and get them to me ASAP. Awesome! But haven't received anything as of yet. Hopefully I'll get something in the mailbox in the next few days [unsure]

On the matter of the tightness of the rail adapters, I took them apart and applied a thin layer of lubricant oil. the vertical movement is now very smooth, much better. The horizontal movement in the track extrusions however only very marginally improved. Still very very tight & cumbersome to move.
