Do you you remove the standard Kapex boot and use just the stache instead?

Did you use the 2" or the 4" version?

It’s 4”.  I’m out of town but will share photos when I am back on Monday of how I did the attachment.

Here are a few more photos, [member=44099]Cheese[/member] that might help.  The brass was maybe 1/2" x .0625.  Bent in a 'U' to wrap around the existing boot to hold the Stache in place.  It is a 4" Stache..

Thanks for the update [member=167]neilc[/member]  there was some confusion on my part when you mentioned that the support strip was only .005" thick.

Photos are incredibly informative, that's why I attempt to include them with every post.

I'll post a photo of the stache once I've installed it on the Kapex.

Thank you for sharing @neillc!  Just found this thread from, super impressed with your Kapex station- any chance for a shop tour or a view of the other walls?  In your three-car, would love to know your tracksaw set-up.

I know this is from a while back, but terrific setup!

[member=167]neilc[/member] I'm doing something similar with a fenceless t-track in the benchtop and have been debating about how to best install the fastcap tape scale.  I've been considering either trying to find t-track with space on the aluminum for the tape or just attaching the tape to the surface. It looks like yours is directly on the surface - how has that worked for you, and did you cut a recess for the tape or just put it on the top of the MDF?

Nice miter station!  I like the use of the dog holes for squaring the cabinets to the MFT.

I routed a shallow groove in the bench top to inset the FastCap tape and it’s worked very well.  They use amazing double stick tape and the measuring tape finish has shown no wear from lots of wood sliding across the tables.

Around the time I started using FOG I saw this thread and downloaded the first photo, filing it away in a folder full of good ideas. Every so often I'd come across that picture until about a month ago I thought I'd better search-out this thread and add it to a bookmark folder (full of good ideas.) I'm still in the thick of sitework now, but someday when I settle down some version of this will be the shop I put together. Thanks for putting together so many good ideas and posting Neil.

[member=167]neilc[/member] I've eyeballed this thread more than once, excellent setup you built!

I've been noodling on building something similar which brought me back for another look.  I was wondering what you did behind the systainers and noticed you said storage from the side or back for long items.  Do you have any photos of that?

I currently have a Kapex cart now with 21" drawer slides.  It's fine if I build drawers to use the full space, but a waste if I want a systainer accessible at the front.  Now that I say that, I suppose I could design an accessories bin at the back of the Systainer pullouts.
However, it would be cool to see the ideas you came up with to utilize the back part of the carts. 
If I build a setup like that the ends would be blocked by other tools when it's against the wall.  I wouldn't want to pull out the carts to get to stuff I'd need frequently.

I also like the flat tops - I'm thinking of using one side to incorporate a SYS-Vac setup to hold the pump and quick way to mount the heads for clamping.  The no fence option means more usable work surface in that scenario.

I've also contemplated cart(s) under MFT's, but I like your idea of organized wall space better - plus the additional workspace to pull out when needed.

Here's a photo of a similar bench I built for my Shaper Origin.

Back of the unit has a 4" deep shelf that essentially takes the space behind the Sys-AZ drawers.  Could have been deeper if your needs require.  Could also have kept the space inside, but the Sys-AZ drawers are only so deep!  Shelves are adjustable.

I use those behind the Kapex benches for extra sandpaper, extra rails for my MFT and a variety of other items.

Awesome, thanks for sharing the picture!  That's a great use of the space.  I'm sure I could put some of the less used fences, mitre gauges, etc. back there.  Keep my shop looking tidier instead of crap all over the walls!
