My New toys arrived this morning.

Now, I just need to learn how to use them.

Hi Ed

Gosh, that is a magnificent dovetail saw - I had a quick look at the Skelton Saws web site and they are not cheap - in fact that is halfway to a CTL26 !

I am sure that Ed has done this but I recommend people reading the "About" tab on the Skelton Saws web site:

Ed, that is a darn fine looking saw. Dovetail or carcase?

Dovetail.

The Saws are fully handmade by Shane Skelton, I asked him to make me the small knife blade to exactly match the tooth pattern and kerf of the Dovetail Saw in order to be able to carry out the following technique:

Yes Peter, the package cost more than a CTL Midi.

On off switch haha,

I thought this would be about the Festool buying addiction.

I cant wait till i no longer have major power tool purchases to make and can start rounding out my shop with proper hand tools.

Enjoy the saw!

You don't need handtools. You can do flush cuts with a sawzall! [scared] [big grin]  (Faster than Japanese saws! [wink])

What a beautiful saw!  I had an Adria dovetail saw that looked similar and it was pure pleasure to use.  I don't cut dovetails by hand anymore, preferring instead the incra system for the router.  In case you may not have heard about it, I will pass on a really great resource from a true master of hand tools.  Frank Klausz has some very good videos that he did for Taunton.  Hand Tools shows among other things how to sharpen and set the teeth on the hand saw.  How To Dovetail a Drawer has some great tips if you want to pursue the hand tool thing towards mastery.  Highly recommended--watching him work is about as good as it gets for this type of woodworking.
