Newb here with a few newb questions

Hi guys,
I’m sure what I am looking for has been beat to death here but for some reason I’m not finding any easy answers with the searches. Throw stones if it makes you feel better lol
1 I’m looking to make a small Paulk type  benchtop with some dog holes. MDF is not used/available here so I would like to use 3/4 ply with a 1/4 hardboard top. If I drill the top and router the bottoms of the holes will that get me around the 1” thickness issue?
2 does someone have an amazon link for the correct vac hose adapter(s) to use my small domino and ts55 with a rigid shop vac hose temporarily. If there’s a better hose (more flexible) that would fit my vacuum I’d much prefer that over cumbersome adapters.
Any help is appreciated TIA

I can’t help with the hose issue, but would advise applying hardboard to both the top and bottom of the plywood. That can reduce bending and warping.

I’m not sure entirely what you mean by route the underneath of the table, but if you mean something like a 30mm hole 5mm deep on the underside of the 20mm holes then yes that should be about enough clearance for the MFT quick clamps.

Im thinking a long 20mm router bit will get ya throught the 1" thk top issue. Do you have a plunge router? TSO sells a jig that will get you the holes evenly spaced like a MFTs are 96mm on center. I think they sell the bit to.

I made a bench using 1" ply. I used a roundover bit to trim the bottom of the dog holes and the clamps fit easily.

I don't understand what the additional 1/4" hardboard offers.

I made an MFT using 3/4" Baltic birch and it's worked out fine for the last 2 years.

Both my 4x8' and 3'x6' Paulk benches are made with 1/2 ply. Very strong for daily use. They have stayed mostly flat over a couple years. Anything thicker would be too heavy to be mobile.

For the hose, why not get a Festool hose?

Is the hardboard going to be glued to the ply?  If so, do you have to balance it by sticking hardboard on the underside too?

On the hose issue, look at the Rockler flex hoses.  Rockler flexible tool hose set
I have one and use it on my TS55 when cutting plywood on my big work table.  It comes with two ends, one of which fits the saw very well.  It's very versatile and the stretch is incredible.

For the TS-55 and OF1400 router, I use a second one that I upgraded the end on to the larger connector, so it fits outside the tool's port instead of inside.

So many replies, thanks guys! I’ll respond to a few things here. I do have the Parf guide. Thanks Peter, it works great. The only thing I would change is the stop collar. I blew the threads out. I have no rock in my rail when placed against 4 dogs so I’m very pleased with that overall.
  I’m not trying to make this super mobil. Maybe only have to move this away from a wall a few feet to handle full sheets. I’m just in a very tight space currently and need sort of a do-all table for the time being. The reason for the hard board was to hopefully make the surface somewhat replaceable. I left out 2 columns of holes for cross cuts  where I was going to try and bevel the hardboard to make dovetail shaped replacement strips. Not sure about how I want to set up for long rips yet. Possibly the same idea running lengthwise or maybe a hinged extension along the front.
  I’m stuck on a boat with junk WiFi for a few more days so will dig into those links for hose when I get back. Thanks Goeffrey, fignewton, mrB.

Edit: I had a private message with Hans from TSO in regards to the pgs stop collar. I saw in another thread that they have a better one to replace the one I got. Top notch service with them so far. Thanks Hans
