It's just because I can :-). But, seriously..... I originally planned to just have a square top (as you can see in #7) but found the result a bit too "boxy" for my liking. So I made a few small changes, I sloped the sides and I beveled the drawer runners. And I liked the result.

The sloped top also works a bit better when you put anything on the top since there's still an edge that prevent things falling/rolling off but you have less depth at the front.
 
I have started experimenting with adding the drawer pulls..... and this is what I like best so far:

Just some wenge contoured with a rasp and, to continue with the sloped/tapered design, where the top pull is slightly smaller than the bottom one.

They are still a bit chunky but feel nice to handle and with some finish should blend well with the fronts. Decisions, decisions.....
