What are the two notches on the upper portion of each end of the Kapex fence for?  For all the time I've spent using the saw I've never really thought about what purpose they serve.  My apologies if this has been brought up and answered already.

Russell, if I'm looking at the right part of it, there's also a notch on the blade end too. Usually when we ask about something like that, it's just part of the casting process and serves no purpose. That would be my guess, but I don't know it to be a fact.

Surely the most pragmatic company in the tool business wouldn't do something like that without some kind of functional purpose?!?!? ;)

It is to make people in NA think that there is a special NAINA attachment that we can't get. The ones sold outside NA don't have those notches.  [big grin]

Shane, correct me if I'm wrong.  I'm not positive, because I don't have a Kapex, but wouldn't the notches allow you to attach wooden sub fences to the Kapex fences leaving a partial gap for insertion of the Festool adjustable clamps?  You might have to make a groove in the backs of the wooden sub fences as well.  That way you could clamp stops or workpieces against the wooden sub fences.
