Hi All -

Its true what they say about the green bug...  Once you get bit, you are in  [big grin]

After purchasing my ETS EC 150, I wanted to move on to a router.  I currently have a Triton router but its primarily in my router table and switching back and forth is a pain.  Its not terrible to switch it out, but as you all know, its nice to have it set up once and let it run.  I also have a trim router that I use for simple and light work (Small round overs etc).  With that set-up, I am able to do the majority of what I need.

My concern is this, I am getting by now and a Festool router would truly be a VERY nice to have.  Does anyone know if a new model is coming out soon?

If there is, I would wait and tough it out.  If nothing is on the horizon I will jump right in and put it to work in the shop.

While I haven't heard of any routers in the pipeline, I don't think Festool is a brand worth waiting for an upgrade, especially in North America.  Especially when new tools come out, e.g. the EC sanders or Carvex, they cost much more than the tools they replaced.

The 1400 is a solid router and the one Festool router I own.  The fact that it has variable speeds and it had availability of numerous accessories that enhance its usage that other manufacturers didn't is why I purchased it.

I haven't heard about an upgrade or refresh in the pipeline, but marketing is something I am not privy to.

I have no product schedule information other than watching trends over several years. What I have seen is that new products are introduced in Europe first and appear in the USA about a year later.

I greatly enjoy my 1400 and I think it's a great product. I've owned DeWalt, Porter Cable, and Festool routers. I think the Festool routers are better than the others I've owned.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the 1400 was a relatively late addition to router lineup. There used to be the 1000/1010, and then the 2000/2200, and that the 1400 was introduced as a goldilocks option. Meaning we shouldn't expect an upgrade of the 1400 anytime soon.
