[size=14pt] I am currently sanding some ply with a view to coating it with a countertop oil finish.
Readily available, I have some Australian OrganOil Hard Burnishing Oil which is Tung Oil based, and some Kunos Countertop Oil.
Looking at the instructions on the Kunos bottle it specifically states that it is not suitable for vaneer/ply. There is no such warning on the OrganOil tin other than a recommendation to use only one coat with ply.
Researching the web, there are some discussions regarding oil finishes delaminationg ply and vaneer, or at best a blotchy finish and excessive grain rise. However there is other opinion that says none of this is a problem.
So why does Kunos caution against it?
What are others experiences?
With appreciation.
