Okay, who's going to be the first....

I stopped at Woodcraft in Toledo today, on my way home from some other adventure I will share soon, thinking I would pick up a Workcenter.

Well that didn't happen and I was told the scapegoat this time is Larry Smith.

Thats what I heard too. Maybe only a week or two, but still a real bummer....

I got mine at Rockler at 9 am.  [eek]

Got to the job and had some thresholds to refinish and stain as well as a section of flooring in the doorway to sand down to the raw wood and coat.

impression is GOOOOOD!

I thought vibration might be an issue in rotex mode but nope.

Thing ripped through finish(gummed up the 40 granat though) The finish must have been at least 40 yrs old!

Impressed with the power of rotex and the surprised by how soft it treated the wood in ROS mode. I even ripped the corners down with the delta pad.

Initial thoughts of the delta compared to the dx93.

Seemed about the same. I didnt use it that much today but it definately worked as well as the dx93.

I have some steps and kicks to tear down in the next couple of days. Then it will have a proper test.

yes i would recommend this tool to a friend  [smile]

I agree, it's a bummer, it not like they didn't know we'd want sandpaper for these things. [blink]  Now we know why Festool balked on the abrasive assortment....

I wonder if that is the reason.  Either way, I would have thought that they would have put more sandpaper out there knowing that this is going to get released and you can not get that size anywhere else.

Well, I can only assume if it's not on the dealer's shelves it's because Festool didn't (or doesn't have it yet) have it time.

Good thing we get a nice assortment included with the sander or there would be some very angry instead of bummed out customers.

Are you guys sure Darcy didn't stockpile hoard the stuff during his demo period and that's why Festool doesn't have any extra?  [wink] [wink]

Festool is currently out of stock on many of the items and not all items have even come in on their maiden voyage. However, the good news, I am told, is that  deliveries are coming in daily and hopefully we should all be ok on the supply side soon. I guess patience (of which I sometimes have little of lately) IS a virtue.

Me, I am cursed. I received a mistake notice last week, today nothing. It is my lot in life to learn to wait...

Guys, I have been subtly encouraging everyone to pre-order, if possible. Demand for the RO 90 very far exceeded our expectations. Very sorry to hear that you guys are finding dealers with no round abrasives at all. To be fair, I don't believe that all of the round paper is on backorder. I think it's more likely that we are having trouble meeting demand for the more popular types/grits. Like Rubin/Brilliant between 80-220.

Luckily the sander came with a decent starter pack of paper- not enough to refinish a whole kitchen or anything, but should last until stock is replenished at the stores. I hear that one of the other sanders (the DX93 I think) ships with a whole ONE piece of paper in the Systainer.......

Shane, I had enough trouble getting my dealer to pre order the actual sander.  I think I would have sent his employees to the pscych ward because they were thinking too hard if I wanted pre order the sandpaper. [eek] Honestly, they had a hard time figuring out what paper goes with what sander.

I am going to order the abrasives from Bob when he gets the systainer figured out.

No pics, but I got 3 huge boxes from Bob Marino today. Unbelievable double packing job on this stuff and 1 day shipping from Ohio to Indiana. Parallel guide set, installer cleaning set, and all the add on bits and bobs for the Domino and Kapex I also ordered at the same time.

Unfortunately the 3 big items - Kapex, Domino Set, and Domino Kit are all back-ordered, so I get to wait it out  [sad]

I decided to just put the new cleaning set to good use and cleaned the shop before the big hitters arrive  [wink]

Apparently demand must be pretty strong due to the price increases.

I am out of paper too, well except some 220 brilliant.  Although they work pretty good for was cloths.

Oh, well as long as I can buy some in the next week or two, so I can clean up those metal railing parts.

I purchased one today at a local Woodcraft store. I had heard rumors that the paper was in short supply so before picking up my unit I called another local store that reps for Festool. Their "Festool Expert" told me they were not yet available and that they hoped to be ordering some this week.  [huh]  Needless, I went to my local Woodcraft and had one home with a nice selection of paper.

There is a huge difference in vendors, and the good ones are rewarded.

UPS has dropped off my RO90 and Workcenter! [thumbs up]

As for as I know this is the first picture of the Workcenter in the wild (at least I couldn't find any).
