I assume I finally broke my RS2 in because it has smoothed-out incredibly.  And wow has it come into its own.  On the same day I noticed this change I decided to try my 6-month-old-brand-new-never-used RAS for the first time on an end-grain cutting board.... whoa!  That sucker eats wood so fast and even collects the dust quite well.  Now that I've got most of my "need" projects done it is time to start playing with the RAS more.  It feels like a new chapter in my woodworking life is about to be written with that pen.

Anyway, just wanted to say something nice for two old corded beasts.

Yeah, RAS = Awesome.  I had started wood sculpting just with an angle grinder + sanding disc attachment, but with the RAS you have more control, and you don't burn the surface the way that you do with an angle grinder.  I like that you can do a final pass with 100 grit as well, and so immediately move to finish sanding once you're done roughing out the shape.  And there's actually some dust collection to boot.
