Oneida dust extraction, Kapex and Planex Easy pros and cons

I use my UDD on top of my Ct-36 Auto almost all the time. Sounds like the newest vacs are requiring that redo from us or Oneida, but it all sounds easy to correct either way with that Tube /Valve relocation.
I use the Festool 50mm Boom Hose to connect the UDD to the Vac, anti-static all the way.  Oneida provided an update kit a few years ago to help improve their Anti-Static path with the UDDs. I never had an Static issue before or after installing the kit, but not using their provided original hose and instead always using an AS hose from Festool may have prevented me from having any issues with Static in the first place.

Many of my coworkers have the DD.  They swear by them. I have mulled about getting the CT compatible DD, simply because this version seems more durable than the 5 gallon bucket versions.

HOWEVER...

I just saw on Tool Nut that the CT version of the Dust Deputy is not compatible with any 2018 CTs.  That may be a deal breaker for me.

Does this mean that older Systainers won’t fit 2018 CTs either?  I’m puzzled.

I spoke with Oneida the other day. They said the UDD will fit the 2018’s, just have to turn it backwards and to let them know and they will send you a longer hose for the pressure hook up if using a plastic liner.

You will love the CT26...now the Kapex is another thing.  I almost bit the bullet and bought one recently but with all the motor issues I am staying clear until a new version comes out or issue is correctly addressed by FESTOOL.  They seem to be turning the other way on the Known Kapex motor issue.  For now using my reliable Dewalt DWS780.

I just took delivery of my UDD. I am pleased at the durability of the unit.  I had not seen a UDD in person before now, only the standard DD.

In reading [member=10952]leakyroof[/member] post above, he indicates that the Oneida supplied vacuum hose is NOT anti static and that he uses his 50mm boom arm hose as the cyclone to CT pathway. I assumed that Oneida’s supplied hose would be anti static, but I will follow [member=10952]leakyroof[/member]’s lead.  Why take a chance?  Besides, I don’t see another use for the 50mm hose now with the UDD sitting atop my CT. With the boom arm, I will not need the extra length that the 50mm provides.

Thanks for the advice [member=10952]leakyroof[/member]

.  A little clarification.....I was a VERY early adopter of the UDD , back then Oneida didn’t even have the vacuum fitting to try and keep your plastic bag against the sides of the UDD like the later versions now have.  The hoses they provided were unknown in terms of AS ability.
So I elected to get the boom hose from Festool as a substitute.
Oneida has since upgraded and changed their hoses, they could be really good but since I already have my set-up with that Boom
Hose, I wouldn’t be the person to ask.... [wink]

Are you using the UDD with the Boom arm? I have the UDD installed, and purchased a Boom Arm when it was on sale, but haven't installed it. How do they work together?
BTW, I've been using the UDD, a newer model, with no issues with my Kapex and other tools on my CT36.

I do have the boom arm, but it is currently not mounted to my CT. I can say for certain, but I think the boom will work just fine since the connection to the large 50mm hose is about the same elevation as the UDD connection elevation.

I’m sure someone here on the FOG has it and will weigh in favorably.
