I was cutting some construction grade pine for a test using my 300 and a  guide rail on my deck.  Nice and sunny with a pleasant breeze.  Then I decided to cut some shelves out of ply on the deck instead of going down a flight of stairs to my shop and using my bandsaw.  Well I got sloppy and got the hose from my CT on one side of me and the cord on the other.  I stepped on the hose and trying to get my balance I tripped on the cord [scared]  I wasn't rewarded as I should have been with an injury to me or the saw; but I did take a chunk out of the ply.  Lessons learned: don't be lazy use the best tool you have for the job, and pay attention to what you are doing and how the tool is positioned.  Festools are great but they can't do anything about stupid operators.

Ouch. Glad to hear nothing serious happened to you or the machinery.

That is pretty much the first thing my father ever taught me. "These tools demand your full attention so always give it to them. Treat them with respect and they will last for the rest of your life." Or somthing along those lines. I hated it back in day but I am thankful now that after the years of use I still have all my digits and all my tools in great condition.

Thanks for posting this.  We all need to be reminded of the basics every once in a while.  They work.  That's why they are basic.  Engage the brain before the trigger!

Hey, Festool didn't include automatic cord and hose retraction.  You should sue ...  ::)
