Hi guys,

I am building a sim racing cockpit, actually it is already built and I used it for a few years before moving and stashing it in the attic of the new place.  I decided to get it down and re-assemble it and do some paint to make it look nice enough to put in the house.

I want to prime it and smooth it all out and am wondering if anyone here has ever used automotive type primer on MDF?

I tried some stuff from sherwin williams that is a sandable wood primer but it goes on thick, doesnt really roll over all its really difficult to work with.  Maybe I just got the oldest can in the store.
I am thinking that there has to be something better out there.  I was thinking maybe the rustoleum primer in a quart might be better?

SW Wall and Wood? Never had a problem with it.

Zinser Seal Coat, then W&W.

Tom

when you used the W&W did it have the consistency of partially dry wood glue?

It is thick, but should still feel like paint.

Take it back to SW, they should make it right.

Cheers. Bryan.
