Parallel guides vs table saw?

Finally my old table saw died and I was looking for a tips how to rip, let say, drawers sides using my parallel guides...
I like them for an off cuts, like a cabinet sides, but when it comes to a narrow long pieces, I think that a whole apparatus with extensions will be very heavy....
Could anyone give me tips of how safely rip long narrow pieces with a parallel guides...

The parallel guides aren't - to me - especially heavy or unwieldy.  The beauty of the system is one you place it on your first board you will only be sliding it.
