Just wondering if anyone else has used these great cordless finish/ framing nailers.
Was working on a shed and a fence this weekend. Though I don't use them a lot as much as I used to to, The finish (IM250A 9000600) became intermittent when trying to fire nails. I tried fresh battery's and new fuel cells but to no avail. I stripped the unit complete to the bones and cleaned everything with the special cleaners and relubled with the paslode lubes. The filters are kept clean.
Still to no avail. I get a spark from the esu( found out the hard way through my ear, Ouch) the nails are not jamming, The fan kicks on when the depth follower is depressed ect. Still sometimes it fires and repetitively, though 4 out of 5 time it won't.
Is there a general # of nails these things will fire before overhaul? I figure I have fired about 25,000 nails, and see there are kits to replenish them.
I used to use the bammer and it would eat up the rings from combustion waste, but I see this has metal piston rings.
I like the freedom of no compressor and hoses especially outdoors, roofs ect ,and without power on sites or having to fight for a outlet to power up a compressor.
Any help would be nice if you have had these problems, maybe its time to just send it in for refurbish?

I have had simular probles with my finish nailer.  I bring it to my fastener dealer, they repair it ,I get it back in a week, I pull the trigger it shoots.  We can't do everything so I let people with better access to parts do the dirty work.
I do like the tool for smaller jobs (under a couple hundred nail), but if I'm there for a day I set up my compresser.  I have found the rate of failure to be a little too high for my uses.                        C Hughes

Yeah me to, although I have done entire jobs  with  Paslode guns, I went back to the compressor for longer and bigger jobs.

To me the Paslode is one of the greatest "punch list" tools made though.

Bill, look at the date on the fuel cells........ they don't have a very long shelf life and cold weather also makes the guns act up quite a bit. I have 6 Impulse guns and use them every day in my flooring business.

Jerry, great tip,
I did not think of that, I just kept putting unused new ones out of the box. The performance date on the bottom says use by nov 06. I'll grab some new ones and see if it changes things.
I was kind of figuring there was not enough fuel getting in due to mechanical wear of rings but it may be the fuel is tuckered out instead.
It is also only about 38 degrees outside while I work which I know would affect them a bit.

Jerry,

Went and got some new fuel cells with good dates, slipped them in and voila!!!!!! It fired away like a fine tuned ferrari.
The new cells puffed out a much larger charge when the piston was pushed manually, the old ones barely did anything but did spit a little.
I will keep that expiration date in mind and only buy what I need when I need it from now on.
The gun is squeaky clean and lubed up good now out of this, hopefully should pin away for quite awhile.

Thanks for the great advice, Proof that the fogs members can add valuable insight and help for some simple and not so simple problems.

Thanks a bunch Jerry, I feel I owe you a six pack.

Now back to finishing the shed and fence.

I have used the palsode cordless and the dewalt cordless finish guns. IMO the dewalt is hands down a better system. Easier to use since you dont have to worry about a fuel cell.

I dont own the dewalt but have used one alot when I had an employee who owned one. Its a good gun.

I have 3 different dewalt cordless nail guns and I really like them.
