PDC 18 vs T 18

I'm in need of a concrete drill that handles bits smaller than a 1/2" dia..  Anything bigger, I probably will use my Dewalt SDS Max.  I saw Peter's video about the PDC and the BHC.  They both look awesome, but I think the BHC is better for me and my T18 will do pretty much the same as what the PDC will do besides the speed control and the percussion.  What am I missing besides that they are NAINA?

You're not missing anything, you have the Dewalt SDS drill and the T18 so you can drill concrete and make holes/screw fasteners. What else are you looking for?

Mind you, if they sold the PDC here in Canada I would buy one myself because I am a tool snob and want the best of the best. But I'm sure you'd do just fine with what you have already.
I'd wager that your Dewalt burns out before a Festool SDS would though, but I don't have anything to backup my gut instinct on that.

I took the BHC 18 to a friend's workshop to show him. He was really busy finishing off a very expensive commission for an oversea's client. He started by apologising for his lack of time explaining about the deadline for his work. Over half an hour later he was still playing with the BHC 18 and I was the one apologising for having to get away (for my supper !).

If you need a dedicated SDS that can work away from a wall socket when required and is a joy to use then I have no hesitation in recommending the BHC 18.

A T18 gives a little more refined control over a PDC18-4 IMO. That said, it's still very easy to finesse the PDC.

I went with a C15 and a CXS for refinement and the PDC 18-4 for it's power (imagine you want to use the lowest speed with a large hole saw for example).

The BHC looks a little delayed down under ... I'm on the edge of buying a big bag of Metabo cordless tools because of a killer bundle deal and I want a cordless angle grinder anyway (anyone see Festool making a hedge trimmer or a recipro saw any time soon?).

Kev... I was told the BHC will be part of the August to I think December Festool Promo Brochure.

That's sounds about right then. I heard at least a good 3+ months away and likely after the financial year end thingie.

The Dewalt SDS Max is a big unit for drilling 4" dia. holes in concrete.  I need something smaller for making multiple 3 mm holes.

My Dewalt 18v hammer drill works, but its slow at drilling.  I can drill a 3/4" hole with the SDS faster than the 18v hammer drill can drill a 1/8" hole.  Plus, the damn thing keeps zapping the battery dead.

As for you being a tool snob, I'm with you on that.  I might just have to get both just because I can't decide.  Kev made a good point about being able to lower the speed to cut a large dia. hole with the PDC.
