Pdc/4 quaddrill

I have to agree with jmac, the noise that those tiny impact drivers put out in small empty space drives me and the kids nuts, esp around the wheel well of a car. ya sure you can have hearing protection but its another thing ill have to look for when i need to do some fastening is annoying.

We've got new people next door and the idiot spends his day playing with an impact driver (I think he even brushes his teeth with it).

... it may be time to show him my spear gun collection [wink] [big grin]

If Festool were REALLY clever, they'd bring out a quiet 18V impact driver - if the laws of physics even permit it! Now I;m tempted to see what happens if I wrap a pillow round my impact driver when I'm using it [smile]

Go do it, report back  [big grin]

I really like the PDC, I was doing a few holes in brick with the hammer drill function, and had forgotten to turn the gear setting up so on 1 and speed 7 it was actually very quite and drilled the wholes satisfactorily.. A good tip if you need to do something where noise is an issue, f.eks a hospital..

I have a CXS which I use whenever it can handle the job, and the now discontinued 14.4v TI impact, which works fine for me, I don't find it as noisy as some of the other impacts..it sits well in the hand.

I think the PDC is extremely versatile, I have all the chucks for except the angle chuck. so it really is a system drill. The 3/8 FF chuck and the Depth Stop chuck are solid pieces of gear that turn the drill into an mechanics lite assembly tool and a drywall screwing champ.. I don't have to worry about the screws being buried too deep into the surface of the wood when used for screwing frames together.

I think it takes awhile to get a feel for the appropriate gear setting and speed settings for the job.. I've snapped a few screws off with it in situations where it was extremely inconvenient ...

Buy it! Just drove in 1000 125mm Battern screws into a deck made of railway sleepers today. Changed 5a/h battery twice. Money well spent.
