The light on the PDC can be turned on with a button which is a nice feature.  It leads to two questions.

First, will it turn off by itself eventually?

Second, is there a setting where the light comes on automatically when the trigger is pulled and then goes off in a few seconds?

The light on the PDC has only two functions. First button push turns the light on, and another push gives the battery charge level. Third push turns the lights and charge indicator OFF.  There is no setting to have the light turn on automatically.

Not sure if it will turn itself off.  I'm testing and will follow up shortly

UPDATE
: Turned on the light and without using the drill, the light was still on five minutes later, so while the manual does not address this, it appears that the light must be turned off manually.

Cheers,

Frank

This drill looks very cool...I want one...the light being on and off with the switch is great - you can use it like a small flashlight. I do that all the time when drilling in dark corners or recesses and do not have my flashlight or Syslight handy.

I am sure that the light on mine does go off by its self eventually. I wish it could also be trigger operated because if you leave the light on the drill handle gets warm which does not seem right.

The light does (or should!) go off by itself after a certain time. I don't know how long, but it seems like it's more than 5 minutes.

While using mine yesterday I left the light on, and was surprised to find it was still on when I picked the drill up again, after what seemed like about 10 minutes. Also, I noticed that the grip was quite warm - I guess that's where the drop-down resistors are for the LEDs.

So, a new tip - when using the drill in winter, leave the light on; built-in hand warmer! [big grin]

That's a shame.  Full functionality would be nice.

But I'm inclined to think that the flashlite feature, even with this limited functionality, is a qualified "pro" over a simple trigger activated lite.  This drill is a drill and a work lite.

So the net is that I am more inclined rather than less inclined to buy the PDC based on it's lite.

I can confirm that the light does turn off by itself. But it takes a LONG time. Probably something like 45min of being unused.

I've never timed it but I always leave it on and therefore know it does turn off. If I take an hour for lunch and come back it will def' have turned off.

As for the heat. . . This is true of both PDC & DRC models. The handle gets very warm (not quite hot) with the light on. There is still no clarification on why this is though. . . Phill had mentioned in another thread that he might ask about this, but doesn't seem to be a problem really. Just a curiosity.

Hi everyone,
Today, I surprisingly found my pdc with dead battery. When I put a new one, the light automatically turns on and no way to turn it off!
Do I miss something?

[member=66761]Efo[/member] - that's not normal, you should always be able to turn the light off.
