People who buy the CXS must be stupid.

Been using it today to install doors hinges and I'm very pleased with it. One thing I've noticed though is once or twice I pulled the trigger and nothing happened, released and it worked perfectly. Anyone else have this?

I just used my CXS a few days ago to sneak some screws into a bracket with the 90 degree head. The only quirk or complaint about this drill that I've ever run into is that the 90 degree head can get jammed on the body of the drill. Then I have to lightly tap it off with a plastic deadblow mallet/hammer.

I am in love with my CXS. It's like a big dumb puppy love but there you go!

As a member of the Festool marketing team, I'm going to eventually get an ulcer from these fake-out complaint posts. Well played, [member=60286]bobfog[/member]. Well played.  [big grin]

And I'm glad that the CXS is working out well for you. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical about it at first, too. It's proven to be incredibly useful.

Any idea about the issue I mentioned a few posts above RE the trigger occasionally not doing anything then once released immediately working again?

I haven't heard of that happening with anyone else. It could be a bad connection, but it doesn't appear to be a common thing. If it keeps happening, you might want to send it in for inspection.

Ok, thanks.

The store I bought it from is only 15 mins away and only bought it yesterday, I'll be using it over the next few days so if it continues I'll take it back and exchange it for a different one.

If this happens again engage reverse, a quick pull on the trigger and it'll come right off.

. I tried that at the time, thinking a reversal of torque might help. It didn't , BUT, I didn't really have a load on the drill in reverse, just freewheeling the drill..

Wow! Yes. I thought I must have been doing something strange or merely imagining it but I have this issue too. It doesn't happen all that often and I don't consider it something that frustrates me that much but it does seem a bit odd.

I think I've got to the bottom of the dead trigger issues.

I am able to replicate the issue over and over, and don't believe it's a fault, but maybe one of the resident forum boffins can verify, [member=191]Rick Christopherson[/member] springs to mind.

Basically the issue arises when you're drilling/screwing and release the trigger enough that the motor stops spinning, but not 100% fully released, so there's just a small amount of pressure on it; then if you pull the trigger back it doesn't do anything. I wonder if it might be something to do with the trigger speed electronics, (maybe a potentiometer?) having to return to fully released for it to reference its position and control the speed correctly and if not fails safe and won't engage?

Happy member of the two CXS club still wondering why I bought all those new shanks and attachments so I could use the Centrotec.

Since I got the CXS, I've come to a new level of stupidity. I've developed an addiction to all 12v tools. I even have a 12V jigsaw.

I have 2 and gave 1 as a gift. I must be really stupid. The only thing that bothers me is no light on the work when the 90 deg is on. I should make some fiber optic thing for the light to move around.

As for comfort, I do remember bemoaning my Makita that sometimes dug into the fleshy part between my thumb and index finger after prolonged use, so maybe I was more concerned with comfort than initially gave credit to.

Well it seems we have single CXS owners (DUMB) and double CXS owners (DUMBER).

I'm in a conundrum as whether I should go from DUMB to DUMBER + a K5 jig or buy a Foreman [huh] [blink]

I'd be very happy to join the club of dumb if I won one, but I'm afraid I don't see myself buying one. I was weighing it very heavily when I decided instead to go with a couple of the Bosch 12v drivers. I got a regular and an impact and two batteries for $100 less than the basic CXS.

The extra money I felt was better spent on other things for my shop. I am finding a need for the 3000 rail, and that's almost 1/3 towards it.
