Hm if I get another CXS, I'm 200% stupid.
BUT

the new model has 50% more torque (up from 2,1 nm to 3,1)

Does it? I thought the only difference between old and new was 2.6ah batteries and 10mm chuck instead of 8mm?

I was stupid when this drill was first available in NA and bought one.  I had a whole stable of Bosch drills and I thought 'What do I have to lose?  If I don't like it I have 30 days to return'.  Well, I still have it and my Bosch drills are very angry now as they stay hidden in a remote place of the workshop- especially since I have a T18 and PDC to compliment the CXS.  The CXS still gets about 70% of the work though.  It still runs like a champ but I'm guessing there will be a day that I wear the thing out.

Festool, Please never stop producing this drill!

Regards,
Gerald

OK, after reading a few pages on this, I went out and bought one. (The T handle, not the D handle) In spite of having the big brother T 15+3.

What made it work out was that I did not have to use the Festool centrotec Torx bits. Over here the majority of screws are the Robertson style. The dealer, Clermont's Ultimate Tool Supply (www.ultimatetools.ca/) has sourced centrotech robertson bits. Plus I added a Festool Centrotec bit holder, BSH 65, that holds normat bits.

So, after using it for a few days all I can say is WOW. I should have got one when they came out.

Cheers,

Peter

I got a stupid CXS when they first came out.  soon after, my old CD12 got angry and deadened its batteries.  I fooled that sulker tho.  I found out the bigger chuck fits the CXS, so I don't even need the CD 12 any more.  So, I am only 75% stupid.  or is it 100% plus 25% stupid.  Oh heck, i am just too stupid to figure it all out.  [embarassed]

My wife did allow me to remove and reinstall 4 screws with her CXS over the weekend.  I am now experienced with the drill at least.  I did have to wipe my fingerprints off of it before I put it away properly.

So can we assume that hers will be a future museum piece!  [eek]

After this rigorous and exhausting test and evaluation, [member=1674]Peter Halle[/member] are you going to purchase your own for some real work?!  [smile] [big grin]

It is a nice drill.  It is #132 out of 500 and is still stored in the systainer with the bubble wrap in the shipping box.

I have a TDK-12, C-12, and T-15.  I am happy and not rushing to grab a CXS no matter how much I liked it.

You are right, seems to be an error on the germany festool page where they stated 0,3 to 3,4 Nm
(by by argument for buing the new one  [huh])

I've now checked it in their manuals and there is stated 0,3-2,4 Nm for both types.

The differences are the new battery, the 10mm chuck and a slight raise in rpm 1. gear 0-430 (old 0-400) and 2. gear 0-1300 (old 0-1200)

i use a milwaukee mostly for my small drills and have an 18v Hilti hammer when needed. However, I don't have a light weight 12v ish drill. the milwaukee i use mostly is a impact driver, not an actual drill. I sometimes need a drill. I was just looking at picking up a Milwaukee Fuel Brushless 12v, but after buying the sustainer for it. the price of a CXS is there.

Any reason why the D handle over the T handle? i've always used T handle style drills

I have a Milwaukee and hitachi, both T-handles and a CXS and CD12 D-handles.I hav small hands and the D's just feel a whole lot more comfortable.  The CXS is the most comfortable drillI have ever used.

Out of all my drills it's my most used

I just had to see what all the stupidity was about.  My CXS arrived this afternoon. And I love it.  Just ordered the Centrotec installers kit to go with it. Does this ever end?

The CXS is my go to drill-driver in the shop, such a comfortable well balanced tool

Today I visited my doctor, and I have contracted the 'German stupid virus!' Symptoms include but not limited to; buying a CXS. And as I used this drill today, all my worries about the worth of this drill simply washed away. No need for a third drill (own DRC 18-4) to opt into offset (fastfix).
10/10, feel a little dumb, HOWEVER...
10/10 would do again

Absolutely, was my second Festool purchase and love this little drill. I reach for it all the time, just waiting on my Makita 18v to die so I can buy the Festool 18v. Set of course, it's all or nothing.......
